Highest Paid Managers at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

If football players are the chess pieces, then the managers are the ones which tell them where to move. Without a good manager, even the best of the players will be disorganised and have no directions what to do on the football pitch. But, more often than not, they don’t get the recognition they deserve for all the hard work they do. In 1996, Arsene Wenger, greatest manager Arsenal had signed a contract to be paid for £500,000 for the entire season. As football goes more into the modern era, footballers have enjoyed a good stream of revenue in their earnings. Football managers have also benefited from the cash injections as it reflects from their contracts. Especially those managers who are managing their teams in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 or the prestigious Champions League.

Although international team management doesn’t give that much of a lucrative contracts the way clubs in the Champions League pay their managers (e.g Diego Simeone getting paid in excess of £40 million per season from Atletico Madrid), but some managers do make a good chunk of money in international management. Today, we will take a look at the highest paid managers at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

  1.  Hans-Dieter Flick (Germany) – $6.55 million

    Hans-Dieter Flick

It’s no surprise that “Hansi” Flick is the manager who gets paid the most for this tournament. He was the assistant coach when Germany won the FIFA World Cup in 2014, but never officially took over as manager. Hansi Flick took over Bayern Munich mid-season and completely revolutionised the team in a short span of time. Hansi Flick led Bayern Munich to Bundesliga (twice), DFB Cup, UEFA Champions League, DFL SuperCup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup glory in under two years in charge. A feat which still feels impossible given the amount of time he was in charge at Bayern Munich. Alongside Pep Guardiola, he is one of the only two managers to achieve a sextuple with their team. Because of his impressive CV and the ability to deliver at the grand stage, he is paid the most lucrative contract at a staggering $6.55 million.

  2. Gareth Southgate (England) – $5.85 million

England had a miserable run for their Euro 2016 campaign even with a squad stacked with immense talent. In 2016, Gareth Southgate took charge of the England’s squad. In the 6 years he has remained in charge, he has led The Three Lions to an impressive runs in all the competitions they participated in. But, they have only won the Euro 2020 finals. A World Cup trophy is yet to be won as the last time England won it was nearly 60 years ago in 1966. Gareth Southgate has the second best contract for the duration of the tournament.

  3. Didier Deschamps (France) – $3.85 million

    Didier Deschamps

Didier Deschamps deserves to be on the list as he led his team to the World Cup trophy in Russia in the last tournament. They beat Croatia by 4-2 in the finals. He has immense pressure on his shoulders because of the curse of the World Cup and injury crisis that doesn’t seem to stop. Karim Benzema, the latest Ballon D’Or winner has also been ruled out of the tournament because of injury. But, he has become the symbol of French football and fans have the confidence that Didier Deschamps will get the team out of the group stage and win the 2022 World Cup

  4. Tite (Brazil) – $3.65 million

    Tite

No one can forget the infamous exit of Brazil in the 2014 World Cup which it hosted when they lost 7-1 to Germany in-front of their own home fans. After a complete overhaul of the squad that participated in that tournament, Brazil has regained their lost stature with their manager, Tite. He led the Brazilian team to the Copa America title, but his aim will be towards getting the World Cup trophy at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

  5. Louis van Gaal (Netherlands) – $2.95 million

    Louis van Gaal

Louis Van Gaal is the sole reason why Netherlands are a force to be reckoned with in every iteration of the World Cup. They are always expected to be the underdogs of the tournament, but Louis Van Gaal led them to a third place finish in the Brazil hosted World Cup of 2014. Netherlands were in a disappointment when the world cup qualification did not go in their favour and they failed to make an appearance in the 2018 edition of the World Cup. Despite being the oldest coach in the tournament, former Manchester United coach will be looking to make the most use of his experience to outplay his opponents and reach the finals of FIFA World Cup 2022.
