On Wednesday at the Al Bayt Stadium, Croatia—the runners-up from the last tournament—will begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign against Morocco.
The two sides were placed in a challenging Group F with Canada and Belgium. Despite their 2018 campaign coming to an end in the group stage, Morocco has once again qualified for the World Cup. Croatia is competing in its third World Cup in a row, and after coming in second place in the previous tournament, expectations are high for them in Qatar.
Both clubs are in excellent shape going into their first game of the season and have won their past five games overall without a loss. Morocco has achieved four victories over that time, while Croatia has amassed five victories.
Youssef En Nesyri, Hakim Ziyech, and Sofiane Boufal scored goals to help Morocco defeat Georgia 3-0 in their pregame match on Thursday. Wednesday’s match between Croatia and Saudi Arabia was competitive, with Andrej Kramaric scoring the game’s lone goal.
