Currently in its final stage of production, Operation 021 is a spy action thriller directed by Summer Bodhi Nicks and produced by Zeba Bakhtiar and Azaan Sami Khan. The movie includes a star cast composing of Aamina Sheikh, Shaan Shahid and Iman Ali. The story is based on the bombing of NATO tanks in Afghanistan. The film features songs by the legendary Pakistani singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and is expected to be released in March, 2014.



On 7 December 2013, ARY Films and MindWorks Media joined for the production of Waar 2, sequel of the hit Pakistani movie Waar. Waar 2 will be shot in Pakistan, UK, Russia, Turkey and Yugoslavia. It has been revealed that the sequel will not be directed by Bilal Lashari, but by the writer/producer of Waar, Dr. Hassan Waqas Rana. The film will star both local and international actors. For all those who loved Waar, this is definitely a film you can place your bets on.



Moor, which means “mother” in Urdu is written and directed by Jamshed Mahmood (a.k.a Jami). The story is based on the decline of the railways system in Pakistan, especially the closure of Zhob Valley railways in 1984. The star studded cast of the film includes Hameed Sheikh, Samiya Mumtaz, Shaz Khan, Abdul Qadir, Sonya Hussein and Ayaz Samoo. The film is shot in Quetta, Muslim Bagh, Khanozai, Shelabagh, Bostan, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Karachi.



Nation Awakes is geared up to be Pakistan’s first science fiction superhero film. The movie is directed by Umair Nasir Ali and written and produced by Aamir Sajjad, who is also the lead star in the film. The movie is set to be filmed in 12 countries and has scripts in both English and Urdu. This is one film you definitely need to look out for in the coming year.



Hijrat is an upcoming Pakistani romantic film directed by Farooq Mengal and produced under the banner of FM Productions. The film features Asad Zaman and Rabia Butt in lead roles. The story revolves around the people affected by Afghan War. The film has shot its first spell in Quetta and is all set to shoot the second in Europe. Kambakht is an action and comedy film directed by Hamza Ali Abbasi and produced by Ayaad Ibrahim and Sharmeen Khan. The film stars Humayun Saeed, Shafqat Cheema, Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui and Sohai Ali Abro. The movie is about a middle-aged man from the backward areas of the frontier and a young urban city-slicker who strike an unlikely and accidental friendship. Kites Grounded is a Punjabi language drama film directed by Murtaza Ali and produced by Seema Hameed. The film stars Irfan Khoosat, Tasneem Kausar and Abid Kashmiri. Directed by Nasir Tehrany and Omer Ikram, Naach is an upcoming Pakistani dance film that stars Shaan Shahid, Javed Sheikh, Momal Sheikh and Neil Uchong Ali. The movie is about a dance rivalry between Shaan Shahid and Javed Sheikh. The film is set to be released in the second quarter of 2014.
