The famous star couple of Bollywood recently blessed with a baby boy on 20th December, 2016. The couple confirmed the birth of their son and within moments of birth, the newly born Nawab of Pataudi family is trending on twitter and other social sites due to his name. The baby’s name is Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi shared by Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Taimur is a name many Indians may recognize from their history textbooks. According to these books, Taimur was a 14th century emperor and founder of Timurid dynasty in Persia. Indian considered him as a brutal Mongol invader who conquered many parts of Persia and Central Asia. Taimur also slaughtered thousands of Indians on his way to capture Delhi in the 14th century. He called himself “the sword of Islam” and used religious symbols for his conquests.
Given India’s historic name and contemporary tensions between Hindus and Muslims, many on twitter slammed the couple for their choice of first name.
